My story...

Well, it was about 2007, summer time to be exact. I was having some pretty bad stomach aches. They'd come about every day. From like an hour after I woke up, until the very moment I fell asleep. As night went on, while I was awake... The pain grew stronger and stronger. Describing it in a 1-10 isn't too possible, because you will never understand the pain. Imagine, your intestines being lit on fire, as their burning into a deep crisp their being stabbed and cut into tiny pieces, now xs that by ten... Now you know what I felt. After this long, doctors tell me it's almost equivalent to childbirth contractions. Now, back to my story. I went through this for about three months. It got to the point where I'd starve myself and lay around all day. I lost all my interests and I got rather depressed, and at that point my mom new something was wrong. At this point, I was getting scared. We went to my regular doctor. Asked me questions felt around my stomach, the whole gig. Their first thoughts were...

  • Miscarriage (not even possible, hadn't even had sex at this point in my life)
  • Ovarian Cysts
  • Apendix
  • It was a mental state (pretty much I'm crazy)

So, more appointments were scheduled. One day, I had an ultrasound, and a CT scan. Inflamation was seen. So, they called me in about a week later to see if anything would go away. Maybe, I'd get better. Well, I go in for another ultrasound, two in one actually. Lower and upper abdominals. They found a 5inch mass attached to my apendix. Tumor? Cancer? Who knows. Well,  I went home afterwards... Soon, they called me back up to the same place... They demanded a CT scan. So, I sat in the back, drank the nasty thick chalky sh*t. & they sent me in for my 2nd CT scan. After this was done, I went home and at that point was running a fever, and the pain got worse. I took a long nap, or what I thought was long... It was an hour, but from all the sleep I'd been losing, it was worth it... My mom bursts in, get up we need to go. The hospital called me in for emergency blood tests. So, we drove up to the hospital, waited about an hour, and I got my blood drawn. They gave me pre-surgery pills and some vicoden for pain... They were going to remove my appendix when the swelling went down. Well, I ended up sitting in the Wal-Greens parking lot for 2hrs waiting for a damn perscription! Here I am, just about puking my guts out from the wretched pain. Now, I have a HIGH pain tolerance. I can tolerate any amount of pain, except most internal. I'm slowly becoming used to my stomach pain, but it gets worse somedays... Back to the story... They then made me an appointment with a surogen. We went  in so he could check my stomach and the swelling of my "appendix"... He finally said, I want to run one more text before I decide to follow with the surgery. So, my colonoscopy was sheduled. I was only 14yrs old. So... Weeks went by, I had my colonoscopy. I was diagnosed with Chron's Disease. But, what about the max on my appendix? It turns out, my appendix really did burst, it was caused by all the pressure and swelling of my ulcerated intestines... But, luckily it healed itself over. A rather interesting yet strange occurance. My only symptoms were pain. That was it. My evidence? Bloody, deep, nasty ulcers. Well, I was put on Pentasa, and within about three weeks, I was doing great. I had a gastroenterologist doctor, who is a really great man :) Three months later, about X-mas time, I had a flare up again... I lost 20 pounds within 3 days. I was again starving myself. I was put on more pills. Intercourt, they did NOTHING. Didn't help. So, I was put on Immuran, and a small dosage of prednisone that I was taken off of, it just helps bring down the inflammation until your better and then your taken off of it. I was later diagnosed with Anemia, so I take iron pills. I was at one point taking up to 28 pills a day. It's been three years since I was dianosed. I've lived with this for 3yrs. A lot of friends and school mates will be shocked once reading this... But, I guess it's time to tell the truth. Now you know why I'm overweight and look pregnant. My intestines are constantly swollen because they are full of ulcers.

What Exactly Is Chron's Disease?

Crohn's disease is a form of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which involves ongoing (chronic) inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. Crohn's-related inflammation usually affects the intestines, but may occur anywhere from the mouth to the end of the rectum (anus).
Chron's Disease can not be cured, only treated. There is no known cure yet. You develope ulcers in your intestines, or where ever it is that you have the disease. Chron's is NOT contagious, nor is at an STD. It can not be passed from person to person. It is a genetic illness.
Pills are taken to lower inflammation, and also enemia if you have it. It's a rather painful condition. It causes a lot of pain, weight gain, and swollen stomach. You can't eat certain things, so your diet has to be changed... &, I am a seventeen year old living with Chron's Disease.
